Yesterday, The Telegraph reported that ex-councillor and sometimes Thanet blogger, Simon Moores had died in a plane crash. A second British pilot was killed in the tragedy.
Simon Moores, 62, was found dead in the Basque Region of northern Spain after the light plane he was flying crashed at 2pm local time on Wednesday.
Simon Moores was a Conservative district councillor between 2007 and 2011.
Simon Moores’ last tweet was used to share pictures taken from the air.
This is possibly one of the hardest blog post I have ever had to write.
While Simon Moores and myself disagreed quite openly from the safety of our blogs, I nevertheless respected his willingness to engage in a public conversation around the subjects of local politics. He was an ever-present counter-point presenting a uniquely right-leaning point of view to local blogging. We rarely saw eye-to-eye but it was hard not to recognise his dedication to our mutual medium.
I’d rather have nothing to write about today, than this story.
