A quick overview of all that is happening in the worlds of Thanet sports and sporting fixtures.

Round up of Thanet’s sports news

Just today The Isle of Thanet News reported that the Dane Court under 16 girls table tennis team had reached the regional finals. Had Kathy’s wonderful blog not covered that news, I’d have never known.

Thanet Colts FC announced, on Twitter, the weekend fixtures for their various youth teams.

And in Rugby, the Thanet Wanderers have been doing well recently picking up an impressive victory against Bromley.

In Football, Margate saw mixed results after heroic efforts recently resulted in a draw and a loss. Last week’s match took place in front of a bumper crowd of 860 at Hartsdown Park. You can keep up to date with the matches and results. It turns out, Google maintains a listing of these things. You can also find out more on Margate FC’s website. Their next fixture is against Tooting & Mitcham United at 3 pm today.

In cricket, (and according to Kent Online), Paul Downton has been appointed the director of cricket at Kent, the club have announced. Kent Cricket Club’s website is found here.

If running is your thing, Thanet Roadrunners have a list of their events and matches on their website.

Thanet Sports Blogger Wanted

We are looking for a local blogger to talk about local sports.

There are a lot of interesting sports fixtures that take place in Thanet or include Thanet teams. I feel that our sporting successes are something that we should be celebrating. But for Thanet Star to be part of that, it would take someone with sufficient interest in sporting events to do the subject justice.

If you want to write about sports, all you need is a free account.
